"ATHLETE OF THE YEAR OF THE CITY OF NOVI SAD" FOR 2025 YEAR
Member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved, attended the ceremony of awarding the 'Athlete of the Year of the City of Novi Sad', organised by the City Sports Association of Novi Sad. The award ceremony for the most successful athletes from Novi Sad was held in the amphitheater of the Serbian Orthodox Church "Vojvodina" in the presence of numerous athletes, sports workers and guests.
Tatjana Medved pointed out that it was her great pleasure and honour to greet the gathered on behalf of the Mayor of the City of Novi Sad, Žarko Mićin, emphasizing that this ceremony celebrates the results, work, sacrifice, discipline and values behind every sporting success, as well as those who marked the sports year with their efforts and set standards for generations to come.
"Novi Sad is a city that lives sport every day and that sport is an integral part of the city's identity, education, health and togetherness. In particular, she pointed out that the title of European City of Sport 2026 is a recognition of the continuous investment of the City of Novi Sad, led by Mayor Žarko Mićin, in the development of sports infrastructure, the construction and renovation of halls, courts and swimming pools, as well as support for clubs, young talents, school and inclusive sports and top sports results. Our goal is clear – sport is available to everyone, in every part of the city, for all ages and disciplines, and it is our obligation to continue to develop sport responsibly, systematically and strategically, together with the people who wear it. I congratulate all the nominated athletes and award winners and thank the athletes for representing Novi Sad with dignity with their successes and for showing that sport is not just a victory, but a path, value and identity of the city," said Tatjana Medved.
She particularly emphasized the importance of the role of the Sports Association of the City of Novi Sad as a key partner of the City in the development of sports, coordination of clubs and programmes, as well as in the recognition and evaluation of sports results, pointing out that the cooperation between the City and the Association is an example of good practice and joint success. She also pointed out the importance of signing the Agreement on Cooperation between the Sports Association of Novi Sad and the Sports Association of Sremski Karlovci, as a concrete step towards strengthening sports connections, knowledge exchange and balanced development of sports in the wider area.
Aleksandra Andrić, junior of the Novi Sad Judo Club, winner of the bronze medal at the European Championship for seniors and Miljan Pušica, handball player of "Vojvodina", winner of three trophies and member of the national team of Serbia, were declared the best athletes of Novi Sad for 2025. The Novi Sad Judo Club was declared the best club in the city, the best women's team were the water polo players of "Vojvodina", and the best men's team, the handball players of "Vojvodina". Slađana Drezgić, coach of water polo players of "Vojvodina", the best junior is Slavica Našagaćin, kayaker of "Vojvodina", and the best junior is Milan Zelić, water polo player of "Vojvodina". The best athlete with disabilities is Mitar Palikuća, table tennis player of the club "Spin". Special awards went to the table tennis players of Novi Sad, coach Milenko Andrić, table tennis player with disabilities, Mladen Ćirić and table tennis players with disabilities, Sanja Bogunović and Ana Zelen.

TATJANA MEDVED OPENED THE TRADITIONAL KICKBOXING SHOW "NATIONS CUP"
Tatjana Medved, a member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, opened the traditional kickboxing show "Nations Cup," which was held at the Sports Center "Slana Bara," organized by the "Warrior Gym" club from Veternik.
"We are proud that our city, as the European City of Sport 2026, continues to host top sporting events and support the development of all sports, from basic school disciplines to the most attractive and demanding, such as kickboxing.
Combat sports in Novi Sad have deep roots, a strong system, institutional support and, most importantly, a bright future. I would like to commend the organizers, "Warrior Gym" from Veternik, who, with their vision, work and perseverance, contributed to making this show a tradition that brings together athletes, coaches, fans and all those who believe that sport builds character, self-confidence and togetherness. The City of Novi Sad, led by Mayor Žarko Mićin, will continue to continuously invest in the availability of sports for all, in infrastructure, clubs and programmes, because sport contributes to the entire community and shapes our values – said Tatjana Medved.
The "Nations Cup" has been held for the seventh year in a row. The audience can expect an exciting evening of martial arts, and local fighters participate, as well as fighters from Montenegro, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovakia. There will be eight fights, featuring 16 top competitors.

TATJANA MEDVED OPENED THE SPECIAL OLYMPICS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN WOMEN'S INCLUSIVE BASKETBALL 3x3 IN NOVI SAD
Member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved, opened the National Championship of the Special Olympics of Serbia in women's inclusive basketball 3x3 in the gymnasium of the ŠOSO "Milan Petrovic". The competition is held as part of the European Basketball Week 2025, with the participation of teams from all over Serbia, and is hosted by the Sports Association "Milan Petrovic" Novi Sad.
"The Special Olympics Serbian National Championship in inclusive basketball is a symbol of strength, perseverance and true faith in the possibility of bringing sport closer and connecting all people, and it is more than just a sports meeting. We are proud that our city is hosting an event that supports inclusion, and this is certainly one of the reasons why it took the prestigious title of European City of Sport 2026, which further highlights the city's commitment to the development of sports accessible to all and the promotion of the values of equality and togetherness – said Tatjana Medved.
On this occasion, she thanked the Special Olympics of Serbia, ŠOSO "Milan Petrovic", coaches and parents who, through their work, enable such events to grow and contribute to the development of inclusive sports, and wished the participants a successful tournament, fair play and a day filled with sportsmanship, friendship and joy.

TATJANA MEDVED OPENED THE 16TH INTERNATIONAL MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT "LAZA KRSTIĆ AND MARICA DŽELATOVIĆ" IN ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS
The 16th International Memorial Tournament in Men's and Women's Artistic Gymnastics "Laza Krstić and Marica Dželatović" was opened by a member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved. The tournament is organized by the Falcon Society "Vojvodina" under the auspices of the City of Novi Sad, with the financial support of the Ministry of Sports and the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth.
"Laza Krstić and Marica Marica Dželatović are not just names from sports history. They are the symbols of the Novi Sad Gymnastics School. They were visionaries, pedagogues and creators of the system, thanks to whom gymnastics in our city gained structure, methodology and people who built generations of champions. That is why this memorial tournament is a tribute to history, perseverance and these extraordinary people. This year's memorial has an additional significance, because it is held in the year when the Sokol Society "Vojvodina" celebrates a great jubilee – 120 years of existence. It is one of the oldest sports institutions in our city, which still nurtures the original tradition and values of its sport. It functions as the sports pillar of this city, through a strategy of continuity, transfer of knowledge, sports culture and ethics. We are proud to welcome more than 250 competitors from 16 countries around the world. This speaks of confidence in the quality of the organization of such an event and the recognition of Novi Sad as a true center of sports, youth and development and a city that meets the highest sports standards. The title of "European City of Sport 2026" is a recognition of our city for successfully ensuring the availability of sport for all, developing sports infrastructure and providing strong support to sports organizations and programs that build talent and sports development in our city. And that is why we continue to achieve clear goals through our policy in the field of sports," said Tatjana Medved.
The competition is held in the Elementary School "First Vojvodina Brigade", and the participants come from Azerbaijan, Greece, Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Namibia, South Africa, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Republic of Srpska and Serbia. The tournament runs until December 7.

TATJANA MEDVED OPENED THE EVENT "SPORTS DAY" AT SPENCE
Member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved, opened the event "Sports Day" at Spence, organized on the occasion of marking December 3 - the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The event is implemented within the project 'Together without barriers' implemented by the Association of Sign Language Interpreters and Interpreters Novi Sad with the support of the City of Novi Sad.
"The City of Novi Sad, with a consistent and responsible social policy, continuously improves the position of people with disabilities, especially when it comes to inclusive sports. It's not just a strategic goal, it's a value that sets our common direction. Novi Sad is constantly improving existing services, developing new support models, investing in accessibility and strengthening cooperation with associations and professional institutions, showing that inclusion is part of our daily practice. In 2025, 288 million dinars have been allocated for program activities to support people with disabilities," said Tatjana Medved.
In cooperation with the Sports Association of the Disabled of the City of Novi Sad, a rich and diverse programme was prepared, which presented various sports such as: throwing tiles, darts, table tennis, shooting, chess, hanging ball, bocce, and a film dedicated to para swimming was broadcast. This event has a special significance because it provides an opportunity for children, young people and the general public to get acquainted with the values of inclusion and equality through educational and interactive activities. Adapted sports facilities enable direct contact with people with disabilities and the development of empathy through creative experiences.
