Member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved, attended the opening of the 5th School Sports Competition in Athletics “School Days on the Athletic Track”, which was held on the athletic track of the Elementary School “Desanka Maksimović” in Futog. The competition is organized by the Athletic Sports Association “Borac Futog” with the support of the City of Novi Sad.

“This school sports competition in athletics will bring together over 500 children of preschool and school age, in all age categories, who will compete by age on athletic tracks in the form of cross country races, for gold, silver and bronze medals, and children will be awarded with diplomas up to the fifth place. The goal of this competition is to motivate children and parents to get involved in sports as much as possible, and to promote athletics, the “queen of sports” as key to the development and preparation of children for other sports, the overall psychophysical development of children, the development of individuality, self-discipline and the desire for success. With this sports competition in athletics, we primarily have a mission to interest children in sports in general,” said Tatjana Medved.

She added that the City once again stimulated the competition with financial resources by allocating 400,000 dinars from the budget for the programs of the Athletic Sports Association “Borac Futog,” and this year funds in the total amount of 20,350,000 dinars were approved for school sports.

This cross country race is held twice a year in spring and autumn with the aim of getting as many children interested as possible in sports.
