Member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved, opened the National Championship of the Special Olympics of Serbia in women’s inclusive basketball 3×3 in the gymnasium of the ŠOSO “Milan Petrovic”. The competition is held as part of the European Basketball Week 2025, with the participation of teams from all over Serbia, and is hosted by the Sports Association “Milan Petrovic” Novi Sad.
“The Special Olympics Serbian National Championship in inclusive basketball is a symbol of strength, perseverance and true faith in the possibility of bringing sport closer and connecting all people, and it is more than just a sports meeting. We are proud that our city is hosting an event that supports inclusion, and this is certainly one of the reasons why it took the prestigious title of European City of Sport 2026, which further highlights the city’s commitment to the development of sports accessible to all and the promotion of the values of equality and togetherness – said Tatjana Medved.
On this occasion, she thanked the Special Olympics of Serbia, ŠOSO “Milan Petrovic”, coaches and parents who, through their work, enable such events to grow and contribute to the development of inclusive sports, and wished the participants a successful tournament, fair play and a day filled with sportsmanship, friendship and joy.
