Member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved, attended the opening of the first “Memorial Tournament of Begec Greats,” which is dedicated to preserving the tradition and history of sports. The tournament is dedicated to the greats of FC “Vojvodina” Vujadin Boškov, Lazar Vasić and Radomir Krstić, the greatest visionaries who left a deep mark in sports in Novi Sad and Begec, and were also members of FC “Bačka” from Begec.
– This tournament is not only of competitive importance, but also an act of gratitude and respect for the people who marked the history of our sport with their work and vision – Vujadin Boškov, Lazar Vasić and Radomir Krstić. With their sports activities and values, they proved how great a community can be when they live with sports. The City of Novi Sad, headed by Mayor Žarko Mićin, continuously takes care of all its sports organizations – from sports clubs in the city to sports collectives in suburban areas, such as Begeč. Our goal is to make sport available to everyone, on equal terms, in every part of the city, because every field, every hall and every club is an equally important part of our sports map and the foundation of a healthy, active and inclusive society. And it is under the slogan ‘Novi Sad plays for the future’ that our city has become the European City of Sport 2026, thus confirming its commitment to the balanced development of sports and infrastructure throughout the city. This obliges us to work even harder on creating equal opportunities for everyone – that everyone can do sports, in every part of Novi Sad – said Tatjana Medved.
The tournament was attended by football clubs “Budućnost” from Gložan, “Bačka” from Begec and “Veternik” from Veternik.
