Tatjana Medved, a member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, visited today the Serbian national team in table tennis for people with disabilities, who are finalizing their preparations at SPENS before leaving for the European Table Tennis Championship, which will be held from November 17 to 23, 2025 in the Swedish city of Helsinkiborg.
On that occasion, she pointed out that para table tennis players are the pride of Novi Sad, Serbia and the world thanks to our table tennis player Borislava Perić Rankovic, who has been crowned with numerous Olympic medals, and was also awarded the Order of Sretenje for the best Serbian athlete with disabilities.
“Our paratable tennis players are the pride of Novi Sad and Serbia. With their work, dedication and fighting spirit, they show that sport has no boundaries. They are a true example that with perseverance, effort and love for sports, all obstacles can be overcome. Their results prove that sport is not only a competition, but also a way of life that inspires. It is a special honor for us that the national team is going to Sweden from Novi Sad. We say goodbye to you as true ambassadors of sport, courage and will with full pride, faith in your strength and a great desire to come back with medals. The City of Novi Sad, led by Mayor Žarko Mićin, continuously invests in the development of inclusive sports, in sports infrastructure and in all organizations working with people with disabilities, because this is one of the strategic priorities of the city’s policy in the field of sports. The title of European City of Sport 2026 is a great recognition that Novi Sad has a strong and responsible sports policy, based on equal opportunities and inclusion. Parasport is our pride, and these athletes are the best ambassadors of the values that the city cherishes,” said Tatjana Medved.
The upcoming European Championships will feature para-table tennis players in several competitive categories, and the national team consists of the most successful athletes who have won medals at the European and World Championships in previous years.
