The 33rd International Novi Sad Marathon, in which more than 1,000 competitors from the country and abroad participate, started today from the Freedom Square. On behalf of Mayor Žarko Mićin and the City of Novi Sad, the participants were greeted and the event was officially opened by Tatjana Medved, member of the City Council for Sports and Youth and President of the Organizing Committee of the marathon.
In her address, Medved pointed out that the Novi Sad Marathon has not been just a sports event for more than three decades, but a platform that gathers, inspires and reflects the values that the city stands for.
– This marathon connects people, celebrates sports and the spirit of our city. It is not just a race, but a symbol of Novi Sad as an open, active and inclusive city. Novi Sad strongly invests in sports infrastructure, supports all forms of sports – from recreational to professional, because we believe that the future is built through perseverance, solidarity and heart. The title of the European City of Sport for 2026, which we won under the motto ‘Novi Sad plays for the future’, is a recognition, but also an obligation to continue investing in a healthier and more active life for all our citizens – Medved emphasized and added – I wish you strength, endurance and inspiration on the track. Run with your heart, enjoy every step and feel the spirit of the city that breathes sports and plays for the future.
The 33rd Novi Sad Marathon is organized by the Sports Association “Novi Sad Marathon” with the support of the City of Novi Sad, and is included in the official calendar of the Athletics Federation of Serbia and the World Athletics Federation. This year, more than 1,100 competitors from 25 countries participated. The program includes races of 42, 25, 10 and 5 kilometers, as well as recreational walks and children’s programs.
