The 16th International Memorial Tournament in Men’s and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics “Laza Krstić and Marica Dželatović” was opened by a member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved. The tournament is organized by the Falcon Society “Vojvodina” under the auspices of the City of Novi Sad, with the financial support of the Ministry of Sports and the Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth.
“Laza Krstić and Marica Marica Dželatović are not just names from sports history. They are the symbols of the Novi Sad Gymnastics School. They were visionaries, pedagogues and creators of the system, thanks to whom gymnastics in our city gained structure, methodology and people who built generations of champions. That is why this memorial tournament is a tribute to history, perseverance and these extraordinary people. This year’s memorial has an additional significance, because it is held in the year when the Sokol Society “Vojvodina” celebrates a great jubilee – 120 years of existence. It is one of the oldest sports institutions in our city, which still nurtures the original tradition and values of its sport. It functions as the sports pillar of this city, through a strategy of continuity, transfer of knowledge, sports culture and ethics. We are proud to welcome more than 250 competitors from 16 countries around the world. This speaks of confidence in the quality of the organization of such an event and the recognition of Novi Sad as a true center of sports, youth and development and a city that meets the highest sports standards. The title of “European City of Sport 2026″ is a recognition of our city for successfully ensuring the availability of sport for all, developing sports infrastructure and providing strong support to sports organizations and programs that build talent and sports development in our city. And that is why we continue to achieve clear goals through our policy in the field of sports,” said Tatjana Medved.
The competition is held in the Elementary School “First Vojvodina Brigade”, and the participants come from Azerbaijan, Greece, Denmark, Bulgaria, Romania, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Namibia, South Africa, Slovenia, Croatia, North Macedonia, Republic of Srpska and Serbia. The tournament runs until December 7.
