The Fourth Memorial Table Tennis Tournament “Vladimir Šiška” is being held today in the table tennis hall of SPENS, organized by the Sports Table Tennis Club “Panonija”, with the support of the City of Novi Sad. The tournament was opened by a member of the City Council for Sports and Youth, Tatjana Medved.
“This tournament is not only a sports competition, it is a symbol of respect, gratitude and lasting memory of a great man and sports worker, who dedicated his life to table tennis, the development of clubs, young generations and sportsmanship. Today, he celebrates the talent, perseverance and togetherness that table tennis carries within itself. Novi Sad, led by Mayor Žarko Mićin, provides strong financial, organisational and infrastructural support to all sports, because we believe that sport empowers young people, connects the community and builds the future.
As the European City of Sport 2026, we confirm that our city lives tradition, passion and winning spirit, but also that sport is not just a result, but a way of life, a symbol of togetherness, health, inclusion and international reputation. Let the Memorial “Vladimir Šiška” be an inspiration to continue to raise table tennis in our city, to nurture young people, sportsmanship and values that sport carries – dedication, perseverance and fair play, and to permanently pass these values on to future generations. Although a memorial tournament, the tournament is included in the calendar of competitions of the Table Tennis Federation of Serbia and is a point tournament, and a prize fund is provided, and the best table tennis players from Serbia, but also from Russia, Georgia, Turkey, Romania participate.
